Photography 1:
Join us as we begin another Photography Class! Professional photographer Dave Arthur will teach us how to use our SLR cameras beyond the manual settings. Starting with shutter speed, aperture, ISO white balance, depth of field lighting and more! This course is for all ages and skill levels. Must have an SLR camera to participate.

Too skilled for Photography 1? Attend our more advanced class! Professional photographer Dave Arthur will also be instructing this course. We will learn how to use our SLR cameras beyond the manual settings. Starting with studio lighting, flashes, reflectors, live training, and more! This course is for photographers who are ready for the next level. Must have an SLR camera to participate.

Wednesday, February 5th • 7:15 – 8:15 PM

A Turn at the WheelThis is an introductory course for the artist who just wants a taste of throwing clay on the pottery wheel.  This is a great beginner class.  This package includes 3 sessions of instruction with a master pottery and three hours of studio time for independent practice.  Each session is 3 hours in length.  Skills learned may include clay preparation, centering on the wheel, building a pot, adding a handle or foot, and glazing.  Fee:  $30   Materials fee:  $70 (due by first class) Students will use the tools available at the studio.  Ages 8+

 

Wheeling AroundThis class is for the beginner potter.  Come learn how to use the pottery wheel to create a variety of bowls, mugs, and plates.  An experienced potter teaches all classes.  Classes are 3 hours long.  Students also receive 6 hours of studio time to practice the skills learned in class.  Skills learned may include clay preparation, centering on the wheel, building a pot, adding a handle or foot, and glazing.  Fee $50; Materials fee $130 (due by first class).  25lbs clay included in materials fee.  Students must by clay tools buy first class.  Tools are sold at the studio.  Ages 10+

Continue Turning – This class is for the beginner-experienced potter who is ready to take his/her skills to the next level.  Come learn how to use the pottery wheel to create a variety of bowls, mugs, and plates.  An experienced potter teaches all classes.  Classes are 3 hours long.  Students also receive 6 hours of studio time to practice the skills learned in class.  Skills learned may include clay preparation, centering on the wheel, building a pot, adding a handle or foot, and glazing.  Fee $50; Materials fee $130 (due by first class).  25lbs clay included in materials fee.  Students must by clay tools buy first class.  Tools are sold at the studio.  Ages 10+  Must have experience on the wheel or taken Wheel 1.

 

Hand building Clay Classes:  You can create beautiful clay designs using your hands and clay tools.  This class will explore techniques used to hand build creative art pieces.  Skills taught may include clay preparations, using slip to add decorations to clay projects, using scraffito as a decorating technique, creating add-ons using scrib molds, and much more.  The materials fee includes 25 lbs. of clay and all glazes needed for projects made.  Students are encouraged to purchase their own clay tools.  Tools are available for sale at the studio.  Classes are 2 hours in length and run for 6 weeks.  Students are also given 6 hours of studio time to work on their projects independently.  Fees $50; Materials fee $100 (due by first class).  Ages 7+

 

A World of Glass:  Learn how to design your own special glass pieces that will be treasured by your whole family.  Projects may include a candy dish,  a serving tray, a small lamp (lamp package for sale at the studio), jewelry, etc.  This class runs for 5 weeks with students creating a new project each week.  Ages 10+

 

Exploring the World of Glazing – Ceramic Technique:  This class will have you wondering why you haven’t tried art before.  The techniques are easy to follow and yield beautiful results.  See our samples online at www.firehousepottery.net.  Students will create as many as four creative projects that may include a serving platter, large bowl, pitcher for beverages, and many more.  Projects online may differ from those presented in class.  Some techniques students will learn include silk screening on ceramic bisque, was resist, specialized glazes, carbon paper transfer onto ceramic bisque.  This class will run for 5 weeks.  Students are provided with 5 hours extra studio time as needed to complete projects.  Fee:  $50 Materials fee $130
